While i find myself agreeing with the last paragraph
The DLL bit i see in a slightly different light. There's no reason why Khaled shouldnt include/depend on third party DLL's. In fact mIRC already does this with SSL, GIFLIB , PCRE and ZLIB. DCX could even be used as a linked library that users can update themselves by replacing it. All DCX needs is that dcx_tools become built in aliases. This would infact really help on achieving the point you make in your last paragraph.
I'm not saying i definitely see this as a decent solution, nor that i feel it something that should be done but that it's something worth a ponder.
