I am confused, considering I AM in grade school , however, i'll still throw in my own two cents: -2^2 = (-2)(-2) When multiplying two numbers with the same sign, the product will be positive. So, (-2)(-2) = 4. For all I know, i'm completely wrong.

it was said before:

(-2)^2 = (-2)*(-2)= 4
but
-2^2 = -1*(2^2) = -1*4 = -4

how simple
