You don't sound stupid at all, I'm not "up" on my IPv6 knowledge either - dunno about you, but
this page made it a little easier to understand why people may want mIRC to support it...I don't mind either way still.

And seeing as mIRC is a program that runs on the OS, it must (ultimately) stay within the boundaries of the OS's capabilities, or so I would have thought.
