I have just been experimenting with mIRC's display routine and the first thing I noticed is that it can currently /echo plain text at about 300 lines per second on my computer. That should be fast enough to handle quite a few QUIT messages. How many QUIT messages are we talking about here? How long is this delay? Are you sure the CPU usage isn't due to other features, such as scripts?
