i'm involved in setting up a new server... my problem is that there seems to be a limit to how many emoticons we can have? the smilies are saved as .gifs. can anyone tell me why there is a limit? should i be saving smilies as .ico's or summat like that? we've currently got about 60 or so but i've seen other channels with more s

mIRC doesn't support smilies, or any kind of images in the chat windows. If you're using a script to add smiley support (which is unlikely to be anything to do with the server) ask the script creator/at the script's website.
