Hi i have a Problem with my mIRC .

Every Time i want to write something in the Writing Box and i press a key on my keyboard an error happend .

Now i post the error:

-------------------------------------

Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library

Debug Assertion Failed !

Programm: C:\Programm Files\MIRC\MIRC.EXE
File: dbgdel.cpp
Line: 47

Expression: _BLOCK_TYPE_IS_VALID(pHead->nBlockUse)

For information on how your program can cause an
assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documantation on
asserts.

(Press retry to debug the application)

---------------------------------------------------

If i press retry then a new error message comes up where it says that mIRC made an error at ISNSYS.DLL ....... then mIRC crashes . if i ignore mIRC crashes too .

PC Information :

OS: WinME
mIRC: 6.12 ( i think it happens with all versions )

Can someone help me ? I have uninstalled and reinstalled mIRC a few times the problem cames every time.

Please say it if you need more information .

It seems that mIRC is not the problem here, but rather Visual C++. Like it says, you might like to read the documentation on it, I see Visual C++'s support site.

Windows ME is known to be a buggy OS, if it's practical for you, you might think about switching to another Windows OS (XP, 2k etc). Also, make sure that you have all the latest updates from Windows Update.

G'luck!

Hi,

This is almost certainly a virus. mIRC has crashed but I'm certain that it is not mIRC code, simply because whatever has crashed has been built with Visual C++ DEBUG mode, the author of mIRC would not release such a build to the public, no way!

It is essential the original poster runs an AV scan immediately.

Hi,

I just noticed the OP stated the .dll that crashed. I checked with google and this is definitely a virus.

In light of the above (thanks Sarky!) it would be wise of you to run the virus scanner which appears at that Pest Patrol page. A couple of other good ones are AVG and SwatIT. You'll also find that this thread has a lot of resources and information that may come in handy.

For future reference, don't:

- Go to any websites you are told to visit, whether they appear in emails or are spammed to you via IRC.

- Accept any files from anyone on IRC except if they are trusted friends.

- Open emails or email attachments from people you don't know.

You should always have an up-to-date virus scanner running on your computer at all times.

G'luck.

Regards,
