Whenever I'm talking to someone in query sometimes they leave and I'm still bothering to type something long to them. I'd like to be able to see almost immediately if they quit.

So if mIRC could keep a temporary tab on people I have in query, that would be cool.

It wouldn't even have to use the notify command to keep track... it could monitor the channels for their quit.

Another idea, a feature that would make query and DCC windows close after a certain amount of time if they became inactive.

I realise there is a way to script both of these things, but let's face the fact that not everyone is as good at scripting as you. I suck at scripting.

Edit: An example of my first idea would be:

[23:41] <John> grr, my computer is lagging
[23:42] * John has left IRC
[23:45] * John has joined IRC

Sorta like putting a temporary notify in your query window.

which wouldn't work if the person isn't in any channels you are in...

I have made it myself in my theme, but would be nice to see in mIRC default...

Why not? The notify feature doesn't depend on that..

If you're thinking about *really* notifying someone in a temporary period, I don't think it's a good idea, since the notify feature uses either the WATCH command or the even worse ISON command.. meaning it would cause an awful flood to the whole network (considering we're talking about mIRC), because everytime people had new queries open, it would send one of those commands and request replies (many times if it's ISON).

If you're not talking about a notify-based thing, then I'd agree with Dognach, no way to do this unless the other person is on a channel you're on.

the nick is with a Q, not a G... I'm not an animal ;-]

and indeed, I was commenting on the "monitor channels for quit"

using the notify list could be an option though heavy trafic for the network...
