Hello!

I thinks thats its a good idea to support more languages in mIRC. I will help to translate to dutch. What do you think about that?

You can already get the setup destructions in many languages. Not sure about mIRC itself though.

If only people paid more attention to the destruction given to them.

In all seriousness though, I hope Khaled rips out all the internal text resources from mIRC and puts them into editable external resource files. This move would allow for multilingual support, as well as better theme support, as I mentioned in a previous post.

You can translate wich Reshack but that sucks. I hope that other translations and themes will be added to the new versions.

Using reshacker is illegal. Support for fully translating mIRC is planned, but it is most likely a big job.

Yeah right it's illegal but it sucks too. I don't work but iv i can help wich translations to dutch i would help!

Well, while ResHacker may violate the mIRC license agreement, doing so isn't illegal in all locales. To my understanding, most European countries permit reverse-engineering for private non-redistributed use, and no license agreement can deny that.

In the mean time until translation is added to mIRC, ResHacker can be extremely useful for creating those translations while we wait. I would recommend that anyone who can speak fluently in 2 languages should download ResHacker and begin on these translations so they can be readily deployed when needed... as permitted by your local laws.

Well to my knowledge; most European countries have signed the Berne Convention which would prevent such things. We aren't talking about reverse engineering, that is something totally different, this is modifying a copyrighted binary file.

If I had to speculate, and thats all it is, a speculation, I would say there is a good chance that multilingual support will be in the next version of mIRC. I say this because, mIRC has a ton of messages to translate, that could certainly account for the 1+ years that it has been since the last release. I personally can't think of any other suggestions that would take such a long time to do. But like I said, it's just a guess.

If it came down to guessing what languages get supported I would guess on French (the language most often used as a second language internationally, such as at the Olympics, etc, Dutch, German, maybe Spanish or Portuguese for those living in South America and Malaysian, cos Malaysian peeps really love their IRC.
