Nup, that was a fairdinkum typographical error. We spell with the Queens English, so it's "week". See, what we do down here is leave the current language with it's correct spelling, save for the occasional genuine mistake, what we do though is invent our own words to make an Australian dialect of a correctly spelled language. That's why if you buy a Macquarie Dictionary (the only real Aussie dictionary) you'll find all these words that you've probably never seen before like: bonza (good), dinky-di (indigenous), fairdinkum (true to one's self or an expression of surprise), bottler (good), strewth (expression of surprise or can be used in place of using the Lord's name in vain), yakka (hard or strenuous labour/work), just to name a few. Then there is rhyming slang which is, to my knowledge, peculiar to Australia: pork pie (lie), captain cook (take a look), rock and roll (the dole), Harold Holt (do the bolt), dog's eye & blood (meat pie with sauce), Pat Malone (all alone), Mary Joanna (marijuana), to name a few. Then, because we all know what that stuff means, it is common to shorten them...
EG: Watchdog is on his pat because the fella behind the counter at the rockers office did the Harry when he saw him eating the dog's eye whilst telling the sheila at the CES a load of porkies when she took a captain at the form he filled out.
Translation Watchdog is alone because the man behind the counter at the dole office ran off when he saw him eating the meat pie whilst telling the lady at the CES lies when she took a look at the form he filled out.
A highliy fictitious representation I can assure you though the lingo (language) is quite commonly in use, especially in remote areas.

rofl. I know a bit of Aussie jargon, mainly cos I was forced into watching 'Home and Away'. Which, incidentally, I thought was going to be about football when I first heard of it. Obviously this show is a true representation of Aussie life *cough*

Basically GrimZ started his own webhosting company in Winter 2002, which obviously became his top priority in terms of spending money and time spent coding. It took off pretty damn fast, which meant there really wasn't any time for him to work on finishing the new version of ScriptaZ.com (which was only partially up). After some bitching from a few impatient users, the simple fact that GrimZ really wasn't going to get any time to finish the site and none of the other major staff members wanted to take on the responsibility of finishing the coding of the site and paying for it's hosting, and of course the ever-growing amount of resources that it sucked up, GrimZ decided to call it a day. ScriptaZ.com went down on Saturday, April 19th. Some of the ex-staff members/regulars have been working on similar sites, but I don't know of any that are up yet.

Yep, it is, along with Prisoner, Neighbours, A Country Practice, and I think you may have heard of Kingswood Country, hmmm, then again maybe not because it was not exactly politically correct but it was still hilarious. Kingswood Country was basically the Aussie answer to Love Thy Neighbour, another great show.

I hated Sons and Daughters but the Young Doctors was okay. When Sons and Daughters was on we'd change the channel and watch Mash.

You don't know what a meat pie is? Well, a meat pie is basically what the term indicates though I sometimes ask myself the same question as quality, size and ingredients change depending on where you buy from. Frozen pies, such as those bought in packs of six from the supermarket are absolute crap. Reading the fineprint on the packaging you'll find "Ingredients: Meat, flour, water, preservatives, etc".... Uh huh.. What does "meat" mean? Beef, fat, offal, grissle, anything the mincer will grind gets chucked in and it is a disgrace to the institution. If you go to a cakeshop you are more likely to get something more palletable. Chunks of lean beef in a rich gravy inside a nice thick pastry. Usually there is an offering, plain, curry, tomoato and onion, meat and vegetable, bacon, or mashed potato. They are the pies to go for and I make it my place to eat at least one a week.

All this talk is making me hungry.
But since I'm not in AU, I don't know how I can get me a meat pie.
I guess I'll just have to settle for some good old fashioned Arby's Roast Beef.

I guess US bakeries are different, we have pies filled with custard, creme, fruits, pudding, etc. I've never seen a bakery that served pies filled with meat. The closest thing to what you're describing would be a chicken pot pie, but you wouldn't find that at a bakery, and as the name implies it's chicken, not beef. Beef, fat, offal, grissle, anything the mincer will grind gets chucked in and it is a disgrace to the institution. Remind me again why everyone seems to think that people in the US eat the world's most unhealthiest things? :P

I think it's also the fault of women liberals and barbie. Women liberals tell women to be who they are, and not how a man would like them to be. And Barbie is the cause of so many anorexic and bulimic girls, which also backlashes into the women-lib's court, causing people to become ever more comfortable with being fat. It would seem Europe lives by the notion: Live healthy, look good, and use drugs (like everything else) in moderation. - Raccoon
Well. At least I won lunch. Good philosophy, see good in bad, I like!

Yea so? I've been to a McDonald's in London, in Tokyo, in Toronto, and in Madrid. Sounds to me like they may have been invented in the US, but they exist pretty much everywhere.
