Well... if you load the .ini file if it has anything in it it will apear in the editor...

It's silly if you HAVE to load it to see the contents. It's the ONLY editor that does that. It would be better if it was a standard editor.

If you want to see the contents without first loading it into mIRC, just use notepad smile

You need to load the file first because that is exactly what the editor is for, editing scripts. As FunChatter said, the format doesn't matter, if you load an .ini file then that file will also work in the editor. The editor is not there for editing files that are not meant to run as scripts.

I guess it is a plausible suggestion though. The ability to preview scripts before actually approving them for execution. A security feature like this could be handy, as well as educational for lusers who simply blindly load scripts. I wouldn't mind seeing a lock on the /load command, where by default it first displays the script editor with the script inside, and wont actually load until the user clicks OK. If they want to /load without displaying the script editor first, they have to unlock that feature.

Then these command line worms wouldn't propagate as fiercely, since the user is both prompted and shown what they are about to load. (seeing the worm's embedded spam text should be enough to dissuade them from continuing)

What you are suggesting is a good idea but it is a seperate function to just being able to view the files.
