that maybe not suck good idea, but ...

1st idea:
the possibility of replace the handler by a script, like a event
on *:irclink:<server/network>:<channel/nick>:<etc>

2nd idea:
when click in a irc:// link, detect if the server in the link is part of a network you are already connected to, and warn "you are already connected to this network / you want open a new connection / you want join this channel using your active server (same network) / you want join this channel in this server (diferent network)"
this can be done by script with the 1st idea, however, the irc:// handler of mirc is kinda confusing e not very practical, especially to ppl who connect to many diferent networks at once, and dont have experience with irc

The HOTLINK events already exist. /help ON HOTLINK

And I believe there already was a suggestion to revamp the "join new network" behaviour of the IRC links.

you manage do make a on hotlink in mirc, to work in iexplorer, and firefox ?
ex:
click here in your browser: irc://network/#channel

when you click, echo in the active channel: "you are already here"

im not talking about clicking in links inside the mirc, im talking about clicking in links in all the web (sometimes with the mirc closed, he will open if is the default application)

That sits well outside the scriptability of mIRC.

Fortunately however, you don't need mIRC to configure this. You can write your own irc:// link handler and register it instead of mIRC's, and you can apply any rules you'd like.

If you are looking at a web browser, why would you want to make mirc your active application to press hot keys to change tabs in the browser?

Mostly a rhetorical question, but it sounds kinda pointless to me.

Uhm, his first suggestion is to trigger an event in mIRC (on *:IRCLINK:) when someone clicks an irc:// link (in another application like a browser) and the browser forwards the query to mIRC. His second one is a more specific one on the behavior of mIRC when receiving these queries but as he mentions, would be scriptable if suggestion #1 was implemented.

some of you really dont understand what i sugested ...
in my sugestion, mirc only do what he already do, i am sugesting only to make scriptable that part
the event *:irclink:* should work to handlers of all browsers without modifications in anyone, and also be triggered in comandlines 'mirc.exe irc://network/channel'

the point is: this funcion(handler) already exists, and work, but is not scriptable, and lack options.

Yes, it's a good idea this! I think this could be made by the Java scripting language to proceed the mIRC.
