It would be very nice to see Special Characters supported in dialogs. I think by now, 2009, special characters and supporting other languages are pretty common.

We are having trouble making nice nicklists as well as other dialog features. People who don't use Latin are having trouble displaying information in their language.

Thank you for your consideration and thank you for 'Chat Crack'! (mIRC)

What do you mean by "Special Characters"? Unicode support?

As we recently had this problem while trying to add a cyrillic language pack to our script, I'd second that.

I switched from pIRCh to mIRC over a year ago and I am glad I did, however one thing I do miss is the ability to use the Symbol font (CtrlS)
Is there a way I can use symbols in mIRC?

At this point, I don't believe so. You may have to wait for (at least) the next release of mIRC, and since Khaled doesn't reveal when the next version will be out, you'll have to just wait and hope, like the rest of us.

I think you're misleading Sue into believing mIRC has no unicode support at all; I don't think she is referring to dialogs.

Sue: use the Character map in windows to type in any symbol you want. type /run charmap in mIRC.

That was not my intention, and if I did so, I apologize.
My response, reasonably so, I feel, was made in cocurrence(sp?) with the original topic.

The character map does not work for symbols, they still have to have CtrlS in front of them.
For instance, Alt0169 is the © character.
With CtrlS Alt0169 it is a heart.
Hopefully it will be in the next version.
Thanks for all your responses. smile

Unicode is unrelated to Pirch's ctrl+s. If you want to use symbols then do so via the character map, as argv0 suggested. Do not, however, attempt to use characters before 0xFF (255) as those will always be taken from your current font. To type a unicode heart use Alt+9829.

Go to mIRC Options -> IRC -> Messages and enable the bottom 6 checkboxes, then type /font in the channel window and make sure UTF-8 is set to Display and Encode.

Try an online unicode chart such as this, using the decimal column.
