As far as I understood /vol, you are only able to change the volume of the whole system with it.
Is there any way to change the volume of sounds played by mIRC only?
If not, I'd like to request such a command / new parameter...

if you want to do this you should prob use a separate library like fmod, theres a dll to link this with mirc u can search for it on prob any of the major mirc script sites

If i am not mistaken, mirc doesn't play sounds.
It asks windows to play them. That is why the vol controls system volume.

Bingo. Thats why you cannot do a separate mIRC volum.

Okay.. I won't use DLLs for this, and it wasn't that important anyway.. thanks for your info.

The above two are both mistaken. mIRC can control the volume of any sound it plays via MCI, which includes /splay. Vista also allows for per-application volume settings in its new sound stack.

It's also important to note that /vol doesn't work correctly in all cases under Vista. The -v "master" switch does not affect the entire system as described, and there are issues with muting. In fact, /vol under Vista will do exactly what the OP wants here-- change the volume for mIRC only. I guess the solution here is to upgrade to vista smile
