Since so many people post so many messages about the new mIRC version, why nto make a small effort to keep us informared about it? Like...progress updates in 'Latest News' by Khaled or something. That'd be cool, and it would add some depth to that board, PLUS get rid of those 'when's the next mIRC coming' posts smile

Just a thought :P

Newsletter covers when it will be released good enough IMO.

You really can't prevent "when does the new mIRC comes" questions.

You can inform users in multiple ways.
With a release date or without.

When you choose to give a release date, you are creating expecations. However, when you don't release it on the release date, hell breaks loose in the form of whining.

When you don't give a release date, people still will wonder when it comes out, or say stuff like hurry up.

So IMHO I think the current "release policy" is the most efficient.

Not knowing the exact date of release is part of the fun in waiting for it.

I'm not saying give a release date, just progress reports. Like 'I just added this major thing' or 'I just fixed this nagging bug' etc. I think it would make people more excited for a release.

I agree, FunChatter. Getting little bits of info beforehand would kinda spoil it. Think of it like opening one Christmas present a day in the run up to the big event - you're gonna be a bit disappointed on the day!

Never compare yourself to others - they're more screwed up than you think.

If I were working on a client I would do as suggested with little egotistical comments for ex.
I just added a about 100 lines of code to mimic mircs ial cuz I rule!!!

** aren't we glad khaled and krejt aren't egotistical flesh eating zombies like me smile
