Like...progress updates in 'Latest News' by Khaled or something. With a release date or without. When you choose to give a release date, you are creating expecations. However, when you don't release it on the release date, hell breaks loose in the form of whining. When you don't give a release date, people still will wonder when it comes out, or say stuff like hurry up. So IMHO I think the current "release policy" is the most efficient. BorgIRC

Like 'I just added this major thing' or 'I just fixed this nagging bug' etc. I think it would make people more excited for a release. Think of it like opening one Christmas present a day in the run up to the big event - you're gonna be a bit disappointed on the day! Never compare yourself to others - they're more screwed up than you think.
