Have you even read the thread I linked to? It links to many resources that can be used to further educate yourself on Internet security, it has information on Firewalls, what they are, why you need them and I think the possible symptoms, and how you can be infected. I also mentioned updating Windows with Windows Update.

What I meant (re: your quote) is that it's best to leave the big companies to make programs poke around your machine, not for you to go poking around the registry or Windows settings and possibly breaking something from the advice given by someone who chooses to help here. We have no idea whether the person giving help knows what they are talking about, or whether they recognize the fact that not everyone is as computer literate as themselves. Whilst in an ideal utopian world everyone would be a computer expert and could sort out their virus issues, or in fact never have virus issues in the first place, that is not the way things work and we cannot expect people to learn all about Windows Registry and other quite advanced issues to sort out one trojan. We can however educate them on how to keep safe in future, which is what I did by linking to a thread that contains said info. No point reiterating it for every post, that's why the sticky was made in the first place.
