I think that being able to use common dialogs other than the file open box ($sfile) would be useful, $scolor would open the colour box (alt-k > right click on a colour at the bottom) and return the chosen colour, $sfont would open up the font box (view > font) and return the chosen font, fontsize, fontstyle.
