I've read some of the posts about problems connecting to IRC, but I didn't see anything about the software not working so here goes:
I'm using my laptop at a university and IRC was working fine for a while(a while being about 6 days). When i tried to log after that, it didn't work. I know there may be firewalls and that i should talk to someone in charge of the network, but I have a message that says something about the software causing the abort of the connection. After sitting for a few minutes this is what it shows:

I'm not sure if that's caused by a possible firewall from my university of something with the software. I've reinstalled mIRC, but nothing different happened. I'm running on XP if that helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
