i know, mirc is not suppose to be file sharing

but (for a friend)

he's new at this, so when he does the ctcp commnd a box pops up saying, <nick> wants to have a private chat session.

so then it shows the commands get, read, help, cd, dir, exit ect.

and he knows the file he wants, but he doesnt know what command to use to get it or how he should type it

he tried the get <file name> but it said "illeagal directory"

anyone have a clue...

Do you mean for auto-grabbing files? Personally I wouldn't advise it unless your friend trusts the person that s/he is grabbing from, but the command would be !nick nameofmp3.mp3 - where 'nick' is the name of the person you're grabbing from, and 'nameofmp3' is the actual name of the mp3. I'm not sure if that's what you mean, but there you go.

Never compare yourself to others - they're more screwed up than you think.

In any mIRC window, type /help /file server
