A number of points:
- The latest version of mIRC is version 6.1
6 and should ONLY be obtained from
http://www.mirc.com/get.html- XDCC is not a protocol in itself to the best of my knowledge.
- mIRC is not a file trading program and using it for mass (probably illegal) file trading is effectively mis-using it anyway, so it's not surprising if things do go wrong.
- If you're downloading movies/mp3s/software and other illegal warez then it could be you're infected with a virus or trojan. There are a number of trojans which threaten to reboot your computer, or actually DO reboot your computer. There are a number of trojans that allow people to have complete control of your computer, and therefore, reboot your computer. I suggest you run 2-3 virus scans - see
this thread.
- I highly doubt this is a bug in mIRC itself.
