Hi,

I'm new to using MIRC but i have a question as reagrds downloading.

I and my friends use MIRC for chatting and trading, however their download sopeeds when we share files remains constant at around 512k. Even though i have a 1mb line my download speed will begin quite high at around 50.# KBs and then drop after about an hour down to around 10.# KBs.

Is there anyway that i can make my download speed constant using commands or whatever or is download speed regulated by the bot or user that i connect to?

thanks,

Legion.

when receiving a file useing mIRC your download transfer rate will depend on a few factors

1. the connection speed of the person your downloading from
2. how much avaible bandwidth that person has .. just because they may have a 40kbps upstream doesnt mean that your gona get it all .. every other online service he is useing takes away from it, especialy if other users are downloading from him at the same time.
3. your connection speed
4. your avaible downstream bandwidth .. again .. just because you can download sometimes at 40kbps or whatever u can download at .. if your downloading from other servers at the same time .. or streaming mp3's or surfing webpages or even chating on irc .. it all uses part of your avaible bandwidth.

its very posible that when u started your download u may have been the only person downlaoding off of that user .. but as time passed more users begain downloading from him .. which means you were left with a smaller facation of his pipe

note that any gender specific refrences such as his or her's are to be understood as being him/her, his/hers .. lol

u can do /pdcc on .. which is suposed to help with file transfers
