By any chance are you setting the background when the window is not at fullscreen?, and then resizing larger?, the background doesnt seem to stretch from what i concluded..
because if you set a background at full screen the window size cant be increased any larger, but from the look of it when you resize SMALLER, all that happens is the window size changes, in reality the image is still in its original size you opened it as.
However, when you open a window thats NOT at full size, the image is loaded to the Height/Width of the actual window, and as a result when you enlarge it you get black space appearing to the bottom/right of the window.. a solution to this might be either to load the background when the window is at fullscreen, or redo the /background command when you change the height/width.

Fill/stretch do seem to cause some messed up background imagery. Win98SE, 6.15 (Caused by using /background -f and then resizing) : Actually there's a small chance that this is my computer being weird, it wouldn't be the first time. So if nobody else can reproduce that kind of weirdness then it's probably not a bug in mIRC, just my computer. Edit: For me the bug only occurs in desktop windows. Regular windows behave just fine.

It's a JPG, however the same thing occurs with PNGs and BMPs.

The only thing i can perhaps think of as i cant reproduce this would be that maybe OS related, you know anyone else on 98SE that has this problem?

I too get that black border with desktop windows, XP Home, 6.15.
If the window is opened, maximised and then filled with /background, and then made smaller, it's fine. If the window is opened and is a normal size in the middle of the screen, then has a background picture put on it and is then maximised, the black border in your screenshot above is displayed.
I have not (yet) tested if this happens in earlier versions and don't know if this is intended behaviour.
Regards,
Mentality/Chris

When maximising - setting a background - making smaller, a centered background doesn't get moved but stays where it was drawn on the maximised window.
Note: If you click on the Center / Fill / Normal / Stretch / Tile / Photo check again, the background gets back correctly.
Could be a missing "RedrawBackground" message when resizing.

This should be fixed in the new mIRC 6.16 that just released; 30.Fixed background display/resize bug with desktop windows.
