is there away to show the timestamp in regular time not in the 24hr time?

is there a way to have mIRC run at startup like when you first turn on the computer? I have it running in the tray but I want it to run as soon as I turn on the computer I don't want to be clicking on it every computer start.

thanks

As a sidenote, the timestamp uses the $asctime format so for some further tips you can type /help $asctime in mIRC.

As for starting mIRC up when you turn on your computer, I now know (thanks to the guys in DALnet's #Windows95) how to do this in Windows XP. You could probably search Microsoft.com for other versions.

  • 1. Go to Start > All Programs > Startup.
    2. Right click 'Startup' and click on Open
    3. Go to your desktop and drag the shortcut icon into that folder
    4. In mIRC type //run msconfig
    5. Go to the 'Startup' tab
    6. mIRC should be sitting there with the box checked, with the word 'Startup' next to it. It should then run each time you login!

Hope this helps!

You have to add mIRC to your startup by finding the startup folder (I didn't know the directory so Start > All Programs and find the word 'Startup' in that list, right click the word 'Startup' and clicking on 'Open' worked for me). You then need to drag your mIRC shortcut to the window that opens.

Alternatively, you could try using $finddir in the Documents and Settings folder, that's where my Startup folder is and I guess that would be fairly consistent in all Windows, even though the exact subdirectory might be different. Try //echo -a $finddir("C:\Documents and Settings",startup,0,echo -a $1-) in mIRC. Mine is in "C:\Documents And Settings\Matt Reid\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" (Don't ask me who Matt Reid is!)
Do note this may only be for XP, I only tried it on that.
