I run a phpBB forum and one of the things I have gotten used to is that a new post to a topic will cause that topic to "float" to the top of the topic list. That is useful because all the topics with the latest replies are at the top, not just the ones posted that day. Is there any way to set that up with this forum? I have looked, but cannot find any such setting. Then again, I have been known to misplace my glasses that are on top of my head!

There is a drop down list at the bottom of each forum saying, "Show" and then a number of options - you can display threads that have been active "within the last week" and therefore, showing only the most active threads rather than ones that were posted to, say, 3 months ago. You can also change the default display for this in the 'My Home' section.
Click on 'My Home' and go to "Display preferences, number of shown threads, languages, colors..." and it can be changed there.

The only options I've seen allow me to limit the number of posts I can see to those active within a set time period. Any that show are still listed in the order they were originally posted, i.e., in date order of the first post rather than date/time order of the last post.

Yes, I do like phpBB forums although I find these ones much nicer aswell as preferring the options available. If you have a feature suggestions etc. about the forum you will have to contact the creators of the UBB forum. As far as I know, Krejt keeps the forums as much as default as possible to make upgrades less complicated and run more smoothly. Obviously due to the amount of people that visit this board on a 24 hour basis, it's important nothing major goes wrong. Regards,

Well, until/unless a change is made by the forum source authors, setting (as you suggested) the time to display only those active in the last week helps.

I like both foruns boards for their own features Like this one, for example, has the option of replying to a certain person by clicking in the Reply link..while in the phpBB you cant do that Just my opinion lol, Zyzzy.

Hate the idea, if they enabled this, then people that type *bump* would be even more annoying than they are already.

Just found something that gives almost the results I'm looking for:
View recent messages Past 24 hours Past 48 hours Past 7 days
Gives each individual post instead of just the topic title, but it will do what I was interested in it doing, find the most recently posted to topics to keep track of activity.

Feel I must bring this topic up again! I have started copying the URL of any post I make as anything new quickly gets burried under an avalance of new posts. This is good as it means the board is active, but bad in that only the few most recent make the 1st page of the list when using the "View recent messages: Past 24 hours" option. It gets even worse when you use one of the other options. There must be some way to list the topic names, with associated links to the topic, in latest-on-top order!
