Forums Connection Issues Acknowledging chat request

When ever i enter a trigger (that usually requires me to do //mode (nick) -x for it to work )
i get this message:

Acknowledging chat request...
DCC Chat connection established
-
DCC session closed

also i get the message "This server is using an alternate server method, please make sure your DCC Server is active and set to port watever. /dccserver +sc on watever. This is a mIRC command." then wen do that command i try to enter a server again but the same thing happens(all that stuff mentioned above) and still get that dccserver message also.

First of all, it really is unsafe to be downloading files from strangers.
Second, we dont help with mass filesharing because it isnt safe, and most of the files being shared are illegal, and its against the AUP of many networks and providers

Giving the unlikely benefit of the doubt that this is happening to you when you are trying to get a legal file from a friend:

in any mIRC window type /help dcc server

use the search feature here set to all forums, and all dates, try using alternate server as search term

you may be blocking whatever port they are using in firewall/router.

the person running the fserv could be having probs, which is very common, so ask your friend

Quite a few people have had problems with this message. Try reading this thread. You may also want to run a Search for "dccserver" and read some of the other threads on the Forum relating to this.

Whilst I'm at it, you must be file sharing to be getting this message, make sure you don't get yourself infected with a virus for the sake of yourself and the rest of us - ALWAYS have at least 2 antiviruses on your computer, and a trojan scanner too. You can get some ideas in this post.
