I would really like to see a minimize option for the "mIRC Editor".

I open it as a desktop window and it's quite anoying I can't minimize it like normal windows...

when you open it inside mIRC it's not that big a problem though... but as a desktop window I find it anoying.

(PS: I know windows has that weird "show desktop" button in the button tray... but I never use it... I want to minimize only this one window, not all of em)

It can be minimized by clicking the upper-left corner mIRC icon and selecting Minimize. But yes, a minimize button would make sense.

PS. Just found that closing the mIRC Editor while minimized leads to it being resized bizarrely on re-opening

I agree, a minimize buttons is damn necessary.

You don't use the "Show desktop" button? This button must be my favourite one, I've even set the wheel click (middle mouse button) to perform a "Show desktop" smile

if there is no minimize button then the minimize option in that menu is disabled

You can thank XP for that. In 98SE it's still enabled.

Yep, that applies to XP and 2000.

Is it just me, or did they dumb down windows xp and windows 2000?

For instance, where did winipcfg go? (and the non-ability to minimize the editbox window)

To me, everything seems to take a long time, and isn't easily done. Such as, uninstalling a program. I couldn't uninstall multiple programs from someone's machine because windows XP kept "looking for another installed copy" of it and then would simply stop functioning and sit there, not accessing the hard drive or anything.

*sigh*

The world is becoming like AOL. (several reboots to connect to the internet, when all you really need is to add 1 connection to your dial up networking.. put the number in, user/pass, and you're done.. I fail to see how configuring a program and rebooting several times is easier than taking literally 10 seconds to add a dial up networking connection..)

I agree, that default XP is annoying as hell wink
It took me some time to turn it into useable system.
But i think it's far better stable than 9x/ME, it's also faster for me, so it's worth it.

You don't need winipcfg, cause you have Settings -> Network Connections (which is far better IMO).

XP is just more NT/2k than 9x wink

If you set the Script Editor as a desktop window you won't have to close it, just give the mIRC window focus.

DOS ipconfig > winipcfg ;-]

and XP just plain sux on most systems... win2k > xp any day!

besides... I have my editor open on the desktop too cause (like was said) I don't want to close it each time I want to talk or test something I just wrote...

the minimize button would be so much more helpfull

What about a way to have it "not always on top"?

windows ME was the absolute worst version windows ever produced windows 98 was alot more configurable in the way an advanced user could config things .... and yes xp is aimed at the more pc illiterate ..... but think of it in terms like this ..... its only the begining ..... its gonna get more and more aimed that way ..... since not everyone can actually understand how to adjust settings ...... whatever happened to actually reading a manual???? ..... hell look at this forum and u could see thats completely true ....... no one searches for answer they want them all handed right to them in a nice neat package gift wrapped and bow tied .......

Turning off the editor dialog's AOT is as "slap-your-forehead" simple as Editor Dialog -> Options menu -> uncheck Always On Top.

I personally would love it if the editor dialog had minimize/maximize buttons in the titlebar. As I have found through experimentation, this only takes about two seconds to add via a resource editor, but suggesting it here would make it a bit more official/legal.
