Sure... just leave your nick, channel and phone number, and we'll call you
</sarcasm>
1. This is not a forum for downloading stuff.
2. mIRC is not (esentially) a file sharing program.
3. If you are desperately in need for help, try this thread, or this other thread.

You're welcome wink

In peace and good thoughts,

You almost certainly misunderstood your friend.

He/She was probably suggesting that mIRC (the IRC chat client available from this site) is good for file sharing, not that these message boards are.

Your friend is incorrect anyway - mIRC was never designed for mass file sharing, even its creator says that it's not as good at it as real file sharing programs, and it's not a p2p network. Please remember that IRC stands for Internet Relay CHAT. That's what it's for, and what mIRC was designed to bring to Windows.

Lastly, as noted by others, we don't support, condone or offer help on illegal file trading here. Partly this is because mIRC was not designed as a file-sharing program, and partly it's because we don't want to become accomplices in criminal activity...

no i was actually looking on netsplit.de for the largest channel, so i could get a large hashtable for my seen system and see how long it took for my dialog to load it into a list.
turns out the largest channel was a filesharing one, figures.

Heh, try that on searchirc.com - last time I looked, I think 87 of the largest 100 channels were file-sharing ones. No wonder some admins are shutting down - IRC is ceasing to be regarded as a primarily chat medium, sadly. frown

Filesharing over IRC probably is increasing, but the 87/100 largest channels just reflects that filesharers group together into large channels since IRC is such a poor filesharing service that's the only way to share effectively, whereas chat channels more often end up balancing out around 50-75 users.
