Hmm, good observations.
I suppose in the end /loadbuf and /savebuf can perform equally to /filter... except:
[*]/savebuf in a channel or a @window that uses /echo will result in hard wrapping,
[*]/loadbuf can indent (-i) but /filter cannot,
[*]/loadbuf can put to channels, but /filter cannot.
