I found that everytime I started my computer, these annoying little bars popped up and I had to close them. After trying to delete from start-up menu (unsucessfully), I am attempting to learn more about what this is. Talk to me.

Sorry, you need to be more specific. Little annoying bars?

To help us to help you...

[*] Do you think/know that this is a mIRC-related problem?
[*] Have you installed any new software recently?
[*] Could someone else have installed new software recently?
[*] Have you run an up-to-date and/or online antivirus?
[*] Have you run an up-to-date malware killer such as Ad-Aware?
[*] Have you run an anti-trojan such as PestPatrol?
[*] Can you describe the problem more precisely? What do the bars look like, and where do they appear on the screen? When do they appear? How long do they last?

...is the same question I could ask you!

PastMaster was asking those questions so that he could establish what problem dag was experiencing to better aid him and others in helping.

The need for the pulsating green heart thing is not needed, especially for those people who have slow connections and cannot process the images as quickly, therefore, taking longer to load this page.

Happy chatting!

Regards,

Mentality/Chris

2. please dont post large images, its very inconsiderate as well as being pointless

Thank you very much, and Happy New Year - better late than never! smile

However, I am not completely naive, and it seems your only intent is to post irrelevant and useless posts. I'll just let you get on with it smile

Happy posting!

Thanks for the reply, again, here is the situation: When I start up my computer it opens a link to irc. I ran a search to find its origin, but can't. It appears that someone else downloaded this site and didn't register it.

I'm a bit confused about what you mean by bars that popup and a link to irc opening and downloading a site and not registering it.

So the bar thingies pop up when you boot up, what is it they say?

Do you mean you didnt download mIRC and a copy of it opens when you boot up? (if so, see this thread

Does some website want to pop up? Or a link wanting you to click on it? hrm, whats your provider? aol seems to like popping junk up all over the place

Regardless, one thing i would certainly do is run a few virus scans ( hard to expect any one thing to be able to catch all the assorted nasties). There are free online ones like at www.trendmicro.com and other things listed at http://zine.dal.net/previousissues/issue19/resources.php and http://www.mirc.co.uk/help/virus.html
