Presuming you are trying to connect to DALnet:

The following posts are ALL about this problem:

And this!

Please in future use the Search option. Infact just using your eyes would have saved your time in this case, as there is a post called "DAlnet connection Update.READ before you post" deliberately stuck to the top of this forum.

Presuming you are not trying to connect to DALnet:

No idea confused

Sorry, I should of mentioned that the Active Servers list is no longer working, it was last updated 5 days ago frown

Unless using DALnet is an absolute necessity it would be a good idea to pick a server from this list.

Open mIRC and from the dropdown servers list (In the options screen) choose one other than DALnet, then click the "Connect to IRC Server" button.

DALnet is under attack...noone can connect. If you are getting the same error on all networks then the best idea is to post all the information you have about your connection and hope someone knows how to resolve the problem.

Unfortunately not, It will probably be back up as soon as the attacks stop, but since only the attackers know when/if that will happen all we can do is wait.

Collective gave you urls that would have answered your questions had you take the time to read them.... trying doing so now and you will understand whats going on.

Bottom line: it is extremely difficult and at times impossible to get onto a DALnet server right now. Yes, that sucks. No, we cant fix it or tell you a server to try. Yes, there are other networks to try. No, this is not BurgerKing, we dont do it your way. Yes, you have to read.

Have you tried to connect to any other network apart from DALnet?

If he's tried all 450-odd servers and got that reply each time then it's more likely to be a problem with his own machine I think. I know for a fact that my network is up 24hrs a day. There is never downtime apart from software upgrades. Never has been.

*Watchdog does a /stats u...

(02:39:31) Server Up 211 days, 10:31:27
(02:39:31) End of STATS report

He needs to try more than the "all of them" that he stated...

OK, i am going to chalk your rudeness here and in the msg you sent me up to frustration. I was replying to your question above and the ones about "whats wrong with DALnet", to which you can find the answer at the urls Collective gave you, one specifically being the one updated as info is received, which is this thread

Open mIRC, try connecting by typing one of the following in your status window as a test:

/server irc.Prison.NET
/server irc.quakenet.eu.org

If both of those give you the same error, please tell us what your setup is: what OS/router/networked/connection/etc

ps. my name isnt Pat

I don't think it's mIRC, it's something to do with your system configuration maybe. If you do what Parabrat suggests in his last post, someone may be able to offer a solution without you having to reinstall mIRC - i.e. " If both of those give you the same error, please tell us what your setup is: what OS/router/networked/connection/etc".
