The on CONNECTFAIL event uses the same as above and triggers when a connection attempt (including all retries) has failed. $1- is set to the connect error message.

Have you waited for mIRC to fail connecting all 99 (or perhaps 999) times?

Iit isn't supposed to trigger only on the last retry
it's supposed to trigger when a connection attempt
(including all retries) has failed
, but after trying, I now
realize it only triggers after the last retry .. that plain sucks.

No.. as the helpfile clearly states, it should trigger only after all retries have finished.

If you wish, set your retries to zero and issue your own /server command On CONNECTFAIL. You can then do some nifty things, such as retry immediately for 5 times, and then slowly increase the delay using /timer.. even check your internet connectivity and issue commands to reset your router or whatnot.

Well, that's the problem; it isn't clear.

Does "Including all retries" mean "all retries trigger the on connectfail event" or "all retries must fail before triggering one on connectfail event"? Apparently it's the second, but the help does not say it clearly.

I can see what he means now, but
you're right, it isn't very clear at all.

It should say ..
triggers when connection attempts (including all retries) have failed.
