Forums mIRC Help IRC Website Link Problem

Any time I click on a link that starts up and automatically connects to a server on a website, it gives me a windows error like Cannot find "server name" then when I press ok, it gives another for IE saying it cannot open helper program, snapshots given below. It happens to any link for irc server

Any Advice?

it seems as if the irc:// protocol hasn't been registered correctly on your PC. It might help to re-install mIRC on your PC to see if the proper registry entries are set that way. If not it might help to do this by hand, but that is always a little tricky. I used to have a simple example but I can not find it right now...

Yea I guess since i reinstalled mirc like 10 times with same results.

Something that worked once before when I had a similar problem...
Go to Options - IRC - Catcher -- UNcheck both the "Chat links" checkboxes, click OK, now go back and CHECK them.

Try mIRC Options > Other -> DDE -> Checking the "Enable DDE Server" box.

I just fixed it, I just installed a fresh copy onto my second HDD, took that mirc.ini, and took parts from my old one to the new one so i have some of my settings like the hostmask and etc. And it fixed it. I guess when i upgraded to 6.1x it used my old one and it was a bad file to it or something.

I just got irc:// links from web-pages to work just by checking the IRC:Catcher:Chat Links:Confirm request box...

oh and the DDE server on...
