Shouldn't Mirc help stop hackers from using IRC as a gateway to hack people's computers. I think that these hackers are giving IRC a bad rap that it doesn't deserve. If there is some way to find these users and block them, then Mirc should try to do this. I can't even access IRC anymore since it is too much of a security threat on our network that the Network Administrator blocked it! Please help stop these hackers.

it's not up to khaled to do that, nor does mirc have any way of telling who the hackers are.

I don't know what you expect mIRC to do. I don't even know how you make a connection between IRC and 'hackers'. The only way that people get 'hacked' over IRC is by typing in what any random person tells them to type or by clicking links given over IRC (although the actual 'hack' occurs because of insecurities in the user's web browser - take it up with Microsoft). The only other way people can possibly be 'hacked' with IRC is if they use a server which doesn't mask hostnames, so that any user on IRC can see any other users host. Even then this isn't a security risk in itself provided the system is secure, and it isn't exclusive to IRC since if you do anything over the Net your hostname/IP can be *seen* by half a dozen other computers at any given time.

Your system administrator blocks IRC connections because they don't want you downloading illegal content using university/ company bandwidth when you should be learning/ working.

It is unfortunate that IRC is so greatly associated with WaReZ, but it is, and much greater than any possible connection with "Hackers". The top 50-100 channels are specific to downloading games, music or movies... not about breaking into systems or attacking servers.
