I use a script for mIRC called Invision which, as of yet, does not work with v6.1 or above. I was wondering if there will be an update to v6.03 so I no longer have my mIRC constantly crashing or am I going to have to give up and move to another client?

6.03 was replaced with 6.1
6.1 was replaced with 6.11
6.11 was replaced with 6.12

I'm afraid you'll have to give up and move to another client.

Convince the scripts author to update the script.

Really...all this ranting, you would think this was some kind of democracy.

Khaled is under no obligation to meet your demands, he does so of his own free will. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. I doubt he will, and quite rightly.

All of you who have been incessantly whining about 6.1x have been incredibly rude to someone who has been working on a program, pretty much voluntarily, for 10 years. After a decade he is making it a tiny bit more annoying for non-registered users, oh, and of course, one of the grips doesn't work frown *faints* - Ahh, nearly forgot the obscure little scripting bugs that people who just want to chat don't even notice smile

A little respect for someone who has been working so hard, along with his colleagues who help him tremendously (see /help acknowledgements whilst in mIRC) wouldn't go a miss.

Speaking of not being under obligations, you're under no obligation to use such a terrible program...it looks to me half the time that people are just looking for arguments and a reason to complain. I wonder if ANY of you have put yourself in his/their shoes, and how you might feel. Of course, next we'll have a bunch of people saying, "Well then he should do something about it if he feels so bad, that's what I would do." - if that's what you're thinking, go back to the start of this post.

Oh, and what next I hear? "Everyone is entitled to their opinion." - Ok, I'll go ranting on about how brilliant September 11th was, shall I? If I did that (which I'm not going to of course, it is just an example), you'd all be going off your rocker - the post would probably be closed, and deleted.

None of you would like being treated like this, especially as such hard work is put into it. Pure hypocracy.

Regards,

he will make it on our demand if he wants more happy and registered users....

if he does not want to do it on our demands why the heck he made mirc 6.12 so fast? as i know we waited for 6.1 version 1 year

As is posted just about everywhere, the reason he and the mIRC team made 6.12 was to fix a serious DCC bug which caused users to be able to remotely crash others mIRC's. A few other bug fixes were made too - look at the versions.txt file.

You may also like to see more information about this exploit.

as it said in my post with updating and in other posts, exploit was there since 6.01 version so basicaly it was in 6.03 also and still we waited 1 year to be "fixed" WITH exploit

soin my opinion khaled is just scared that so many complains were posted so he made 2 VERY fast updates (ON OUR [USERS] DEMAND),, i mean when did he last time in past made so much "small updates" so fast?

so we go on start, he will listen our demands coz he didnt made this proggy for him (at least it seems like that) so he will listen to our demands or his work to please ppl around the world will be destroyed, at least on some time

Actually, the first mIRC versions were just for him, and he decided to release it to the public to see what other people thought of it. Seeing as, when they released the announcement mailing list, it quickly rose to 1,000,000 users, I'm guessing lots of people like it - strange how quickly people can turn, isn't it?

And also, you may note that the exploit wasn't discovered until very recently...Khaled and his team, to the best of my knowledge, were not the ones to discover it either. So, if the exploit was discovered when mIRC version 6.03 was out, he would have rapidly released an update for it, probably 6.04 - but it wasn't found until 6.11, so 6.12 was made.

still on start, so called mirc team wouldnt made so many updates if they "dont care for public" SO to end this pointless crap talking, they will always make versions on users demands UNTIL they remove mirc from public use, then and only then he will (khaled) make it for himself again

Personally, not to start a ranting, if you pay for software--you should have some say in what whould and shouldn't go in it in its next version. Just my opinion tho..

As per usual, someone is unable to hold a debate (intelligent argument, whatever you want to call it) without resorting to immaturity.

You should have read what I said in the first place:

"Khaled is under no obligation to meet your demands, he does so of his own free will. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. I doubt he will, and quite rightly"

And actually, they don't update mIRC with user demands - You may notice there is a Requests forum, but no Demands forum - this is because people can REQUEST what they would like to see, and then Khaled can choose whatever he wants out of all of the suggestions.

Anyhoo, yet another thread which is fast deteriorating into yet another flame war, so have whatever opinion you like, but I won't be posting on this thread again - my argument is strong and constructive, your foundation argument however, is "6.1 sux" smile

Happy chatting!

Sure, hence the mention of the Requests forum above - users do have some say in what goes into it, they just don't have the final say smile

And yeah, I realise you didn't see my post before you posted yours, mainly because I posted after...blah, that makes sense to me :P

Happy chatting, again!
