I was infected with a virus from a file called email extractor.exe. It shut my Norton Virus protection down immediately and made it difficult to open the task manager. I have scanned my systems with several virus scans including stinger from Mcafee and trojan remover. Nothing is ever found. I was notified on mirc about a virus called BUF something. Please help me get rid of this....

some trojans can fake out virus scanners, try one of the free online ones like housecall at www.trendmicro.com. YOu can also use their site to research what you were told was found, usually details how to get rid of it

A Norton-specific virus that only targets and is "detected" by NAV? This sounds rather like the " echo j: | format c: " bug that someone pasted in the channel... it's just an error in NAV - use a good AV scanner instead, KAV/AVP for instance.
