I downloaded mIRC version 6.1, and I don't see a difference. Can anybody tell me what it is??

versions.txt lists all the differences.

Look at the tool icons - there's fewer of them.

(And why-oh-why was the tool button for 'Help' removed???)

Well the idea of upgrading is so you get the benefit of improvements. There have been many arguments on these forums (and other places I imagine) as to whether there have been improvements with it. Personally I like it, as do many others, but a lot of people (look in the bugs forum) would disagree. It all comes down to personal preference, same as anything else. If you're happier with an old version, that's your choice.

Don't mourn the loss of the toolbar buttons, they have keyboard shortcuts that are even faster to use smile

Alt-D: aliases
Alt-P: popups
Alt-R: remotes
F1: help

Well, bugs are bugs. Whether or not they're pretty and some people like them .. they're still bugs.

I like the new version. It finally calls up your registered browser instead of IE (yeah, I know you could fix it in the registry before, but still....)

I also likes that it displays and confirms when you past multiiple lines of text. This could have saved a few embarassing moments, like when a person accidentally "outted" themself in an IRC channel I frequent.

Yeah I know, but I much prefer clicking :-P

It's all about user choice/comfort... and there was really no reason to remove something which is going to be far easier for a complete newbie to spot...

This is amusing, nothing change? It is the scripters that change it and Khaled allows scripters to do that. That's the fun of mirc being able to make your own script and design of it. If it was not for being able to edit mirc i bet the interface would be different. I find it funny that people download something fancy that does not work over something that works well. mirc works well and fun to use if you take the time to play with it.
