I have seen links on peoples sites that are something like <a href="irc://irc.watever.???" target="_blank">irc://irc.watever.???</a> how do you do these links and can they go straight to the channel?

those links if you click on them and you have a mIRC client im not sure if it works for others but it should automatically open up mirc if its not opened already and prompt you to join that channel. Hope this was helpful

oh well paint me green an call me gumby i must have mis-interpreted. i typed did this for <a href="irc://irc.somnet.org:6667/channel name"></a>
but leave out the # and it should work fine

that is if i understand correctly you are wanting to write that to a webpage
