It would be really useful to know what network you're experiencing this problem on!
Many of the big networks, bar DALnet, do not allow registrations of
nicknames only usernames. If you
are using DALnet though, try:
/nickserv ghost nickname passwordOr for any other network with *services:
/msg nickserv ghost nickname passwordYou could also try the #Help channel on your network, or the network website.
As for not being able to enter a channel because you're banned, there is nothing we can do. You can use:
/mode #Channel band look up which ban is stopping you from entering the channel - next to that ban should be the OP (@) who banned you. You can try contacting them via /msg:
/msg nickname message-HEREAgain, if you're using DALnet:
/MemoServ send Nickname Memo-HEREOr for some other networks:
/msg MemoServ send Nickname Memo-HEREHowever, like I said, other than that there isn't much we can do - people have the right to ban you for *whatever* reason they want, be it racist, sexist, ageist or any other *ist.
If you're not allowed in because "You need to identify to a registered nickname to join that channel" then I presume the network *IS* DALnet, in which case you need to:
1) Follow the instructions in your email to complete the registration. Use the AUTH code in the email, which comes in the form:
/msg nickserv@services.dal.net AUTH Your-Nickname R<AUTH CODE>OR IF YOU'VE DONE THAT2) Use the NickServ identify command:
/NickServ Identify PasswordFor other, smaller networks that have services, try:
/msg NickServ Identify PasswordI hope this helps. If it doesn't, include what network you're using in your next post and *ALL* other necessary details (e.g. channel modes - type
/mode #channel)
Good luck, and happy chatting.
