I USE A CABLE MODEM TO CONECT TO MIRC AND HAVE JUST INSTALLED A ROUTER SO I CAN USE ALL MY COMUTERS OF 1 MODEM. BUT NOW WHEN I GO TO CONNECT TO MIRC I GET
" CAN'T ASSIGN REQUESTED ADDRESS "

Are you trying to connect to DALnet? They get attacked quite frequently and have caused this 'can't assign requested address' problem as of recently. Try connecting under a different port, such as 6662 or 8000.

This is a question that has been dealt with a lot on the message boards. Please learn to use the Search feature and to read the bookmarked posts first. wink

On that note, there's this post by Merlin that explains common IRC connection errors (among them the one that you're describing) and there's this thread that might help you find a server if you're encountering the error on DALnet.

Finally, there's an edition of the DALnet zine that explains the problems that the network has been having.
