According to the mirc 6.03 help file, the identifier $active gives the name of the currently active mirc window. I cannot get this to work. The identifier seems to be empty.

I wanted to use it to create a trigger/remote that plays a sound on certain words but only when my focus is not in the channel. Anyone has a good alternative for this?

wow, this was fast. Thanks for the help (also to Hammer): I now got it to work.

I was indeed using /echo $active. To see what it would return, but I understand from your reply that is not supposed to work this way.
