i have a friend who has just changed their isp and they now have a dynamic ip and a firewall they cannot configure. due to this they can no longer upload. i am aware that this is a known problem but is there a workaround for it?

If there is no configuration utility that the end user can get at to configure the firewall, then the answer is probably "No." Sometimes you can get the DCC Server to work, but if the firewall is tight enough, you can't even do that.

It would be very suprising if there was no way to turn it off, probably with software that came with the drivers. Have a look through control panel and the Start -> Programs menu. If there is a way to disable it do it and download a software firewall, like ZoneAlarm.
