:P

I know I know, I just had to use that topic. I know I know, we don't know.

I've read a bunch of posts about speculation of when it will be released.
I'm deciding to ask what we think will make the cut into the new mIRC.
(I say it has to be something -BIG- otherwise it would have been out before!)

Will it be blue?
Will it have anything to do with cows?
What do you think?

There will be just a few minor bug fixes and perhaps a new command or identifier, or two. I don't expect more than 5 items in the new versions.txt entry. smirk

He'll streamline everything and make it look like WinXP, causing mass suicides across the nation.

I'd like to think that the interface is going to be changed to what degree, I don't know, but being that its been awhile since the last release it will be something some what major. grin

We all hope it will be a major update. Something like this:

1. Rewritten mIRC under MS VC++.NET
2. Added 20 code comments.
3. Fixed "Year 3000" bug.
4. Made changes to simplify rewriting mIRC under MSVS 2003.

cool

As long as it's relatively small in size, I'm happy.

In my opinion (as 56K modem user) you could double the size of the mIRC.exe and it would still be small enough.

If it's only five things, then why would it take this long to be released?

You may be able to say that but you gotta keep in mind that Khaled probably has a life too. I mean I highly doubt that he's been coding non-stop since the last version. I am anxiously awaiting the new version as much as the next person and all I can say is it will probably be released when Khaled is ready to release it...

Unlike hundreds of thousands of other people, I actually don't think about the new mIRC version being released. I'm happy with 6.03...it does its job anyway - it's been able to do everything I've wanted it to do so far anyhoo.

True, it will be interesting to see what will be in the new version, but all this talking about it is going to make the process seem a WHOLE lot slower, and make you feel as though you're waiting an eternity in anticipation :P It's like staring at a clock waiting for school/work to finish - it'll feel a lot longer when you concentrate on it (I'm sure we've ALL stared at the clock and thought..."has that stopped? Come on...COME ON YOU DAMN THING, TICK DAMMIT, TICK TOCK" - or maybe I'm just a psychotic maniac smile)

I'd just forget about it, go chat, have some fun, maybe even *gasp* do something in real life *shudder*

Happy chattin'

Regards,

...and I too rarely think about the new version comin out. Yes its nice knowing that theres one in the making, but thinking about when it will be available will drive me insane (Yes I too have stared at the clock many times when I was in school, well when I actually made it to class anyways LOL....but i did graduate grin )

You are happy with 6.03, i'm just happy there is a mIRC period. I just try telling everyone that brings up "when will the new mIRC be out?" for the 11 billionth time that it will be out when it is ready...most people should sign up for the e-mail notification, and wait anxiously for that e-mail. I have been doing alot of things in my spare time, rollerblading, shooting hoop, playing roller hockey, and spending time with the warden...um girlfriend.

Oh yeah did I forget to mention my playstation 2? LOL thats like the basic necessity in life for me LOL anyways I figured I would reply since I must have overlooked it a few days ago. and to say that I basically agree with ya on this post...

Well thats considered rushing it....and when that happens, there is a higher chance of more bugs. Khaled is doing it at his pace to ensure that there will be minimal bugs. Besides looking at coding night and day would probably give him a brain aneurism lol....

Hrm. Lets recap then:
I think it will be blue and have somehting to do with cows.
A few others think it will be rewritten in that nasty unmentionable language and look like that nasty unmentionable os.

The rest of you think about ticking clocks.

*sigh*

Are you a manic depressive? Is mIRC's current features that depressing? Every post you make has been nothing but negativity...

I could care less if mIRC decides to go with a neon pink look and consists of colorful popups...so what! People don't download mIRC to look at it, they download it because it provides the means for people to connect to a whole new world that doesn't revolve around work or constant nagging, and to get away and unwind with others that are looking for the same thing.

The color of mIRC isn't relevant. That's probably why the default is vanilla, its nothing fancy. Plus there's the option of adding a little color as a background on the toolbars if people want it. I don't think there's anything really life altering being added to mIRC (Unless its a portable beer cooler) I just think there are a few bug fixes and a few added features discussed in the "Feature Suggestions" forum.

Just wait and see.. The_Game stares at the clock and realizes its half-past beer-thirty...
