I think mIRC is the one of the most popular IRC clients.
Many person using it all around the world.
In my country Hungary there are a lots of "resource hacked" mIRC versions, which are only translated to our language.
I think in every country there are the same versions, because every nation loves (or understand easier) own language.
For example in IRCServices programs there are languages files to serve this probleme and make the using of the programme more comfortable.

I suggest to Khaled or Tjerk so the mIRC developers to make mIRC using language files, default english of course.
First, I offer my help to translate to hungarian the language file.
I think and hope from every nation will be some person who offers help to make the translations.

I hope my suggestion will be heard...

I think this is a good idea as well, it's just it could take more effort than you think it would.

For example:

Options and dialogs would have to be completely redesigned to accomodate some languages. Remember, translations of words may not take up the same amount of space as the original word. This could cause major hell when designing specific buttons, and most definitely the options menu.

Khaled could probably very easily use a 'language file' for translations(such as Innosetup does), but actually getting it to work right in mIRC is a different story.

The first perogative, is to get it to support Unicode(support via Windows IME) before a language translation Of course, this would be a Windows 2000/Windows XP feature only.

I hope they can solve this.

Best thing to do is email Khaled and ask him. I remember somewhere on his website where he is seeking translations of the help files into other commonly spoken languages. I am not sure if he wants the same for mIRC itself though, but there's no harm in asking.

So, then will mIRC contains multi language or I write this topic useless?
Nobody else has an oppion about this topic?

I very much agree about the UTF issue.

First of all, language files would have to be in UTF-8 for mIRC to know what language and fontset it was for, or, alternatively, have the encoding specified in the files themselves.

Also, UTF-8 is a really nice feature for multilingual people who want to use several languages at once. The characters a-z are included in most encodings, but characters like æ, đ and わ exist in different encodings, and so you need UTF-8 to be able to use them all at once.

The problem, of course, is to enable input of severan encodings at once and then autodetecting them and converting them to UTF-8, only to convert them back to local encodings when displaying them again.
