previously, mirc's mdi windows (server, channel) looked like vista

since the new mdi windows were introduced (7.7 or thereabouts? they now look like windows 10) they no longer recognize mouse clicks on minimize/maximize/restore; this is true when normal and when maximized. the system menu still works fine. double-click on titlebar works. right click on titlebar does not work (assuming this is supposed to do something).

i suspect those are custom mdi windows that do not conform to windows default -- hypothesis: you broke something.

just to clarify: the main mirc window works fine, the problem is just the mdis.

this happens on multiple computers (somewhat similar but not identical setups), so this is not a single localized problem.

i don't quite know what specific details to give for you to troubleshoot this, be feel free to ask.

Thanks for your bug report. I have not been able to reproduce this issue here so far.

I checked the latest version of mIRC under Windows XP, 7, 10, 11, and Wine under Linux, and the buttons are working correctly for me here.

Can you confirm which versions of Windows you are using where this happens?

As far as I know, this the first time this issue has been reported since the feature was added in 2021. Is it possible that this may be related to something specific about your Windows configuration?

issue has existed since at least 7.73-7.74 that i have noticed (probably since the new mdis were introduced), and as you see it took me this long to report it. i have not tested 7.81, but it does exist on versions up to and including 7.79.

certainly this can be, however it does happen on multiple computers with non-identical setups.
but sadly this does not really help with troubleshooting this.
configuration is reasonably standard, no huge changes that should cause this that i can think of.

if i am correct and this is custom theming/handling/etc of mdis, perhaps the easiest solution is to add an option to disable that and use the standard vista-like mdis. this should solve the problem (and i suppose some people will prefer the vista look over modern).

It looks like your version of Windows 10 was last updated in 2021. This may not be the cause of the issue but it's difficult to be sure.

Please download the latest version of mIRC and let us know if it still shows the same issue.

Question: Are your mouse buttons swapped by any chance?

Thanks for confirming. I was able to reproduce this issue with swapped mouse buttons. This issue has been fixed for the next version.
