Hi Khaled,

I'm using the new beta version 779.1430 and a few minutes later mIRC without showing any error, simply closed. It's happened twice in less than 10 minutes, but I'll be watching to see if it happens again, but it's never happened in the official mIRC 7.79 version.

New info:
I had to stop testing the beta version and go back to using the official version 7.79 because the beta version 7.79.1430 closes unexpectedly a few minutes later.

Thanks for your bug report. This looks like it will be tricky to track down. A full debug build, code analysis, etc. are not reporting any memory-related issues and I have not been able to reproduce this with heavy memory stress testing here. I will be releasing a new beta with all of the memory-related changes removed shortly.

Windows 11 Enterprise 23H2

The mIRC beta has been running for over an hour now, and during this time, not a single such crash or error was not found.

No crashes here after 1 hour on Windows 7.

I have just released a new beta with all memory-related changes removed. All other updates to the beta are still in place. This should hopefully rule out any issues with non-memory-related changes.

Most of the memory-related changes were made to accomodate the custom memory allocators that I tested. A custom allocator is not currently being used, so these are not necessary at this point.

One other change relates to the memory pool that tries to avoid freeing/allocating memory uncessarily. I will add that back in the next beta after more testing.

No more crashes, I've been online for 2 hours on the new beta version 7.79.1441 without any problems.

mIRC v7.79.1441 - has been working properly for more than three hours without crashes or errors.
