I've just updated to mIRC 7.77 on my Windows 10 PC yesterday.

However, Bitdefender flags mirc.exe as being infected with a virus and moves it to quarantine. Virus name: "Gen:Variant.Fragtor.577108".
I got the same result when downloading the install file again and checking it with VirusTotal, though it showed only a few scanners were listing it as a thread.

I've searched both the web and this site for others having the same issue, but couldn't find anything.

Is it safe to add the new mIRC version to exceptions in Bitdefender?

I just replied to this post in full before remembering that there is actually a sticky post that covers this question here.

Thanks. I've reported the file as a false-positive to Bitdefender so they can take a look at it.

A heads-up: after the latest update of Bitdefender, I have no issue installing mIRC 7.77, so they've adjusted their database now it seems. smile
