On the plus side, I tracked down the issue.

I believed in what that sooner or later someone would discover this problem :-]

In any case, I have made a change that should resolve this in the next beta.

Good! I will necessarily testing the new beta version as soon as it will be is published, and after that I will write if I see this bug (problem) again. Thank you!

mIRC beta v7.65.922 ‒ No bug found, problem resolved. I no longer observe this and cannot reproduce. Thank you very much.

This has reappeared in 7.68, mIRC is running on Windows 11 which I am connected to via remote desktop. I had installed a few of the earlier betas, I did not notice it then. I might not have installed the latest beta(s).

I could not reproduce via steps in this post https://forums.mirc.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/269905/duplicate-icons-bug#Post269905 so I don't know what the cause is

At this point, it looks like I am having to implement multiple workarounds for drawing bugs in the MDI window handler (controlled by Windows itself) by finding ways to force the MDI handler to reset itself in different contexts. However, the only way to do that is to find methods to reproduce the issue, so I really would need a step by step method to reproduce it in this case.
