Forums Scripts & Popups (Twitch) How to pause the chat?

I am using a few twitch account via mIRC, and if I want to join a big channel, where lots of people are typing, and also type- I recieve all of the messages, and it makes mIRC crush and takes a very long time untill I can type.
Is there any way to stop the chat and not recieve the messages that are sent on the certain channel, or atleast to make mIRC not load them?
