I know I've posted this message before but for some reason it's gone or just didnt reg ... anyway, I was wondering if it's at all possible to connect to two different channels on two different servers simultaniously. I don't know if you need a script of if there is a way to do it in the perform but any help would be great ... thanks

Sorry to pick on you Nimue, you just happened to be the one who did this when the idea came into my head :P

I'm kinda thinking, maybe it is a bad idea to make links that just say "click me," I mean aren't half the "problems" people report on these forums caused by just blindly clicking things? Maybe I'm just being stupid, but it seems like we are telling them to do the very same thing we tell them not to do.

Yeah the thought had crossed my mind a couple of times too, there isn't a lot else to do except say "Use Search" (which half the time returns 2437 other posts saying "Use Search")

Well usually when I paste a search url I don't set a "title" I just make it display the URL...

good point, easy to forget that not everyone knows they can see the link url just by putting the mouse over it, and it could lead to abuse. Since it is useful to aim them to another thread i usually put "see this thread" as opposed to something like "click me". Admitedly anyone could use any phrase and really be linking to something no one should click on. Altho i used to put the url in plain view, i stopped doing it after complaints that those using large font style sheets found it difficult to read.

*ponder* on the other hand, i guess that even an url in full view could be a less than nifty place to go just as easily. If i saw "Trend's Housecall" or "this webpage for virus scan" and checked the url before i clicked, i would know thats a safe site to click on , but others wouldnt know the diff even if i gave the full url, so its kind of a catch22 isnt it crazy I'd hate for ppl to hesitate to post useful urls here, that would limit the help we give. How about we at least say "this thread" or "BlahBlah's web page" as opposed to just "click here" or "click me" or "go here" ?

Yea, I mean what I suggested isn't really a "solution", for example http://www.mirc.com.

But I just meant the biggest problem with IRC seems to be people blindly click things just because someone tells them to, maybe we can try and help break that habit at least somewhat.

i know what you mean... the downside tho is that while we are telling ppl to not click on an url just cause someone tells then to, we routinely in help channels and here refer them to links that as helpers we know are safe and expect them to trust us. Yet here we are, strangers telling them to click.

Not providing helpful links would restrict our help a lot, but i agree we should at least say something other than a blind "click me". Thanks for bringing up a good point.
