While trying to make a socket script, I realized you had to be connected to a server for mIRC to be able to return a value for $ip. When mIRC starts, it should set the value of $ip to your real IP address untill you at least connect to a server. Then at that point, can make the value changes.
Meanwhile, how can I find out my IP address using an identifier without connecting to a server first?

mIRC can't always know the local ip. If mIRC tries to get the local ip of this machine it will get 192.168.1.117 (I'm on a LAN). That IP is only valid within my LAN, it is meaningless to the outside world. There is no way for mIRC to get my "real" IP without either a.) the server telling it what my real IP is, or b.) me telling it what my real IP is.

Right, but this is the feature suggestion board. And I am telling him because some people are on a LAN, there is no way this feature could be added to mIRC.

The feature can't be added because "some people are on a LAN" ? Start making sense.

Read what he said, "When mIRC starts, it should set the value of $ip to your real IP address untill you at least connect to a server" I am saying it is NOT possible for mIRC to do that if the user is on a LAN.

Then return the user's LAN ip address, duh! It is after all, by all accounts, their IP address.

Again READ HIS POST. That is NOT a real IP. That is a local IP there is a huge difference. If you want to argue with me that is fine, but at least read what he is asking. He said real IP, if he didn't mean real IP, well I'm not a mind reader, if he meant to say "whatever IP is available" then he should have said that; but as of right now, I've yet to see him clarify, therefore I'm going to comment on what he said, not what I or anyone else believes he meant to say.

I mean the real IP address. Not the local one.
